The short version

We measure how the directory is used with our own anonymous analytics. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers or any third-party profiling. We never connect what you browse to your email address or account.

Anonymous journey analytics

When you use BLNCD Spaces we record a small set of events: a search, a location or filter choice, a listing appearing on screen, and clicks through to a venue’s website or booking page. Each event is stored with the search terms or filter used, the number of results, and a random session ID.

That session ID is generated randomly in your browser and held in sessionStorage only. It is deleted when you close the tab, so a return visit is a brand new, unconnected session. We do not store it in a cookie, we do not use device fingerprinting, and we cannot link sessions together over time.

Analytics events contain no name, email address, account ID, phone number or postal address, and this is enforced in code, both in the browser and on our server, so identifying details are stripped before anything is saved. Even when you are signed in, your account is never attached to these events.

We use this only to decide which regions and types of space to cover next, and to show partner venues anonymous, aggregated interest in their area.

Analytics preferences

Anonymous analytics are on. We measure searches, filters and listing clicks so we know which places to add next. No profile is built and you are never identified.

Your choice is stored on this device only, so you’ll need to set it again on another browser.

How long we keep it

Individual anonymous events are kept for 90 days and then permanently deleted. Before deletion they are rolled up into daily totals (for example “42 searches for Essex on this date”), which contain no session IDs at all. Those aggregated totals are kept so we can see long-term trends.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • Strictly necessary. A sign-in cookie when you log in to a member or business account, and a site-access cookie while the site is password protected. These are required for the site to work.
  • Session analytics storage. A random session ID in sessionStorage, cleared when you close the tab.
  • Your preferences. Small entries in localStorage remembering your analytics opt-out and whether you have already dismissed or completed the newsletter sign-up, so we don’t ask twice.

We set no advertising, marketing or third-party tracking cookies. Because our analytics are first-party, anonymous, session-only and used purely to improve this site, we provide a clear opt-out rather than an intrusive consent banner.

Email, alerts and marketing

Email is handled completely separately from analytics and the two are never joined up. If you give us your email address we record it with the date of your consent and what you asked for:

  • New space alerts: the locations you chose, used only to tell you when a space opens near you.
  • Members list: occasional updates and offers for people browsing the directory.
  • Spaces list: updates for venue owners and partners.

Each of these is a separate, specific opt-in. Agreeing to one never signs you up to another, and you can ask us to remove you from any or all of them at any time.

Accounts

Member and business accounts store the details you enter: your name, email and, for venues, your listing information. Listing details are published once approved. Your account data is never merged with anonymous analytics.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent for any email list. Anonymous analytics events cannot be traced back to an individual, so they cannot be retrieved or deleted on request: there is nothing in them to identify you. Contact us and we’ll deal with it.
